Jim Carlson
Mr. Carlson completed a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1971 from the University of Iowa, a Pharm.D. in 1976 from the University of Michigan and a Clinical Pharmacy Residency in 1976 at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY. After 10 years as Assistant/Associate Professor at North Dakota State University College of Pharmacy, he was CEO, co-founder and owner of PRACS Institute, Ltd., a drug research company in Fargo, ND and East Grand Forks, MN. His current business interests include CEO of JDC Development, a business development group and CEO of Paraclin LLP, a virtual, vaccine development company.
Kevin Christianson
Mr. Christianson studied Accounting and Computer Science at Minnesota State University Moorhead, Moorhead MN. His interest in real estate led him to the construction and development of multi-family apartments and various commercial properties, including motels. He is the President of Paces Lodging and Property Resources Group. Mr. Christianson also facilitates financing and funding for land development, apartments and commercial development projects. He has real estate interests in 7 states, has built 270 units of multi-family apartments and has developed 200,000 sq./ft of office and retail space. He actively manages, leases and provides property management services for his developments. Mr. Christianson serves on the Finance Committee for the Dakota REIT.
Brad Fay
Mr. Fay is a 1983 graduate of North Dakota State University with a BA in Ag. Economics. Mr. Fay is a small business owner and is personally invested in multi-family apartment and commercial property in North Dakota. His is presently involved in small business consultancy ranging from export market development to grant assembly. He holds the Series 6, 7 and 63 Securities Licenses. In 1993 Mr. Fay worked for the North Dakota Securities Departments as an investigator. He has been a founding shareholder in several start-up, value-added companies and cooperatives such as: Dakota Growers Pasta Company, and United Spring Wheat Producers. Mr. Fay has served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Wheat Growers and seven years on the North Dakota Grain Growers Association Board of Directors. He completed a term as NDGGA State President in 1995. He presently serves as Secretary of the Board of Trustees and on the Finance Committee of the Dakota REIT.
Brion Henderson
Mr. Henderson received a BA in Industrial Engineering from North Dakota State University in 1976. Since that time he has worked in agricultural production services in North Dakota, specializing in chemical and fertilizer application. Personal real estate investments include multi-family apartments and tax credits. Mr. Henderson serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Gorman King Jr., Chairman
Mr. King graduated from Tufts College, Wellesley MA in 1975. He received a JD from the University of North Dakota in 1979 and a Masters Degree in Public Health from Harvard University in 1984. Mr. King is a principal in Old Orchard Partners LLC. He is attorney and former publisher of North Dakota's oldest newspaper, the Hillsboro Banner. Mr. King invests and manages investments in multi-family apartments, and tax credits. He also serves as the principal in the North Dakota-based ProviDent, a managed care dental health services company. Mr. King serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and is a member of the Finance Committee of Dakota REIT.
Stan Johnson
Mr. Johnson attended Valley City State University in Valley City, ND from 1971— 1973. In 1974, he entered the Respiratory Therapy program through Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND. Mr. Johnson graduated as a Certified Respiratory Therapist in 1976. Mr. Johnson entered the construction business in 1979 as a manager for Wick Construction in Valley City, ND. From 1982—1984, he represented Midwest Marketing as an Insurance Sales Representative. Mr. Johnson developed Heartland Insurance in Valley City, ND in 1984. In 1987, he moved his offices to Fargo, ND. Heartland Insurance markets through independent agents and agencies in North Dakota and western Minnesota.
Clarice Liechty
Mrs. Liechty graduated from Jamestown College in Jamestown, ND in 1983. She received her Master’s degree in Management from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND in 1994. Mrs. Liechty was President of the North Dakota Wetlands Trust Board from 1995–1996. She has also been a member of the North Dakota Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Committee, Director for the North Dakota Wheat Producers, and a past President for the Jamestown Area Foundation and the Jamestown College Alumni Board. Mrs. Liechty has spent her business career in partnership with her husband in agricultural production and real estate investments.
Roy Sheppard
Mr. Sheppard graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Business with a BBA in Business Administration in 1972. That year he founded North Dakota's first cable television services company, Cable Services, Inc. He is now President and General Manager of the company, which serves 8 communities in North Dakota. Mr. Sheppard has served on numerous State and National Advisory Boards for the cable and telecommunications industry to expand technological services for business, public and private users. He is currently engaged in developing a 21,000-square foot technology center in Jamestown, ND to assist start-up technology companies in southeastern North Dakota. In 1989 Mr. Sheppard was appointed by ND Governor George Sinner to serve on the ND Educational Telecommunications Council. Mr. Sheppard has personal investments in multi-family apartments.
Roger Swenson
Mr. Swenson graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1956. He received a Master’s of Divinity from Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN in 1960. Mr. Swenson became the Director of Development, then the Vice President, of Concordia College shortly thereafter. He also became trained as a Bank Trust Officer in Mont Claire, NJ in 1961. Beginning in 1967, Mr. Swenson formed a partnership for investment purposes. Since that time, he has owned and developed numerous residential and commercial properties in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Illinois. His partnership UPREITED into Dakota REIT in 1993.
